Why Green Kratom is a Balanced Strain

Posted by

Kratom’s sheer versatility, owing to its dynamic alkaloid profile, comes at the cost of being a tad bit difficult to navigate for the newcomer: in some cases the herb is advertised as a pick-me-up akin to coffee, while other times new users might come across anecdotes or copy writing suggesting that Kratom acts as a downer with euphoric effects which put its user into a deeply relaxed state.

These, and other reasons are why this article is going to concern itself with Green Kratom: the best strain for newcomers. This specific strain is a balanced strain, which means that it’s effect profile doesn’t lean too heavily in either adventurous direction. And these directions, as advertised, really do exist: Kratom can actually function as an herb that does two things that seem entirely opposite to one another, but this has to do with dosage and, as this article suggests, strain.

Green Kratom’s MIT and 7-OH

Green Kratom, like all Kratom strains, contains an alkaloid known as Mitragynine (MIT). This alkaloid’s effect profile on the user, regardless of dosage, is the effect most people seek in Kratom. It gives the user an “upper” experience. Much akin to a strong cup of coffee. The MIT in Kratom interacts with a user’s brain to provide a great sense of stimulation. To accompany this feeling, users often report an increased sense of creative freedom, greater sociability (and increased enjoyment at social gatherings to boot,) and improved productivity in any kind of work.

MIT is generally known to have a moderate addiction risk, though this dependency profile scales with the dosage and frequency of Kratom consumption. When MIT is the primary goal, a user only needs 250mg to 1 gram of Green Kratom to get a reliable, repeatable outcomes for that morning kick. This is because Green Kratom contains a strong ratio of of MIT to 7-OH (which we’ll go over), meaning the energy provided is high, but not so drastic as compared to White Kratom, which can sometimes be a little much for new users.

Green Kratom also contains an alkaloid known as 7-Hydroxymitragynine. While the second-half of that alkaloid’s name might be the exact same as the alkaloid we just went over, it is absolutely not going to boast a similar effect profile. It is specifically because of 7-Hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) that Kratom is seen as so versatile: it causes an effect in its user that’s the exact opposite to what we just described in MIT.

Where MIT causes the strong caffeine-like effects for users seeking a pick-me-up, 7-OH will drop its users into a deeply relaxed state: they are often put closer to sleep, they’re stresses and anxieties are temporary lessened or entirely reduced altogether, and their sociability increases to an highly agreeable level.

7-OH’s drawbacks, which are far more pronounced and dangerous than MIT’s, include a steep risk of dependency development, sharp, horrible withdrawal effects, and cardiovascular issues when taken in too high of a dosage. These effects become doubly worrisome when the 7-OH is consumed through Kratom, which can take 5grams or more in a single sitting for 7-OH to become the dominant alkaloid.

You might wonder, then, why Green Kratom, which as more 7-OH than white, is considered the best newbie-friendly strain of Kratom. The reason is simple: at reasonable dosages 250mg to 2g, Green Kratom doesn’t provide enough 7-OH for it to become the dominant alkaloid within the effect profile. Not only this, but the 7-OH doesn’t even have an effect on the user, its present in such small amounts.

Despite this, Green Kratom still trades enough of its MIT to 7-OH ratio in comparison to White Kratom for the amount of MIT absorbed through Green Kratom to be strong, but not overbearing. These two facts combine to make Green Kratom an energizing option that isn’t going to cause an overwhelming sense of energy, while not being aged enough like Red Kratom to cause 7-OH to accidentally become the dominant alkaloid within the sitting.

In short, this makes Green Kratom a balanced strain great for newbies who want to dip their feet into the world of Kratom without being shocked by the sheer amount of energy it can provide.
