7-OH: When to Quit

Posted by

If becoming addicted to 7-OH is a worry for a user, or if said user has a history of drug abuse, addiction, or dependency in the first place, the best starting place with 7-OH is nowhere at all: don’t do it. 7-OH is an extremely powerful alkaloid that has effect comparable to morphine: it’s incredible for pain management, it makes a social event with friends doubly fun, and it can raise an artists creative spirits such that they’d produce works they might not otherwise, and in a fraction of the time. 7-OH is also extremely addictive, dangerous beyond certain dosages, and has some of the most brutal withdrawal effects one could find associated with drug use in general.

All of that to say, the best time to quit 7-OH is before you start. If it’s too late for that, try now.

For the Responsible User

If you’re a user who has experience with substances that have similiar effect profiles as what’s been described above, you might qualify as someone who can make use of 7-OH while properly managing the risks associated with it. Often, users who qualify as this type of person are ex-military, experienced substance users, long-time Kratom enjoyers, or people who have lived for an extended period of time using various substances as pain management tools.

If what’s described above does not sound like you, it could be a good idea to skip the 7-OH experiments altogether, although we do have some tips for people who want to use 7-OH for pain management safely.

Before going further, consult this rough guide on 7-OH dosages and their associated effects.

  • .5 – 1 milligram: Slight effect of improved mood, maybe some light pain relief, but no guarantees on that front. This dosage is excellent for new users to test out their body’s response to the alkaloid without delving past the shallow end.
  • 2 – 4 milligrams: The previous dosages effects, but increased. While still considered a light dosage by most standards, the pain relief will be much more noticeable and the mood improvement will be enough to encroach on “euphoria” territory. Low risk of tolerance buildup and dependency issues in this range so long as taken with scarcity.
  • 5 – 7 milligrams: A moderate to high dosage. The effects of 7-OH within this dosage will be akin to what the alkaloid is predominantly advertised at doing: relieving anxieties, creating a sense of euphoria, relieving even strong pain, and aid users in falling asleep later in the day. At this dosage, risks of tolerance buildup and dependency development become more pronounced, and responsible usage becomes extremely important.
  • 8 – 10 milligrams: The highest dosage that can be recommended to experienced users before the risk of repository issues, addiction, and eventual withdrawal increase significantly. This dosage should generally be reserved for users who don’t experience the kind of pain management they’re seeking, but also understand that they won’t need said pain relief for more than the next 2 to 3 days at most.

Given that the maximum dosage that is recommended ever is 10 milligrams, a good rule of thumb is that when a user begins craving an amount approaching that maximum dosage, it’s a good time to quit it altogether. Consider weening one’s self off instead of quitting cold turkey, as the withdrawal effects can be particularly brutal. A good method is to consider each day an opportunity to ween one’s self a little more, by one to one-half a milligram or so. Once a user who wants to quit reaches a daily dosage of two milligrams or less, it becomes viable to quit cold turkey, depending on the frequency of the dosages leading up to that figure, and that leads us to the next point.

Another good sign that it’s time to hang up the 7-OH boots, so to speak, is to track the frequency of usage. People using 7-OH for pain management can get away with four out of the seven days in a week of usage, with a recommended maximum of about 2 weeks total. Exceeding that, it is safe to assume that a dependency is developing and its time to pull the plug.

People making use of 7-OH for the purposes of recreation should hold themselves to a far more strict standard; two days of maximum usage within a three month period with a maximum dosage of 5 milligrams.
